Managing your practice

Putting patients first by ensuring the safety and trust of patients are some of the profession’s highest priorities and responsibilities.

There are other important responsibilities that dentists in Ontario must uphold throughout their practice and career. These include:

• Practising safe, ethical and high-quality dental care in accordance with the law, the College’s standards, guidelines, advisories, by-laws and policies.
• Fulfilling your regulatory obligations throughout your practice, including mandatory reporting, protecting patient privacy, etc.
• Displaying appropriate professional conduct and attitude
• Maintaining professional patient-dentist relationships
• Participating in the College’s Quality Assurance Program to maintain continued competence throughout your career
• Annual renewal of your certificate of registration
