Quality Assurance Program

Re-start of the Quality Assurance Program

In March 2020, the College suspended the Quality Assurance Program due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the selection of members for review of their e-Portfolio and the Practice Enhancement Tool (PET) was suspended and all current CE cycles for all dentists were extended by one year.

Beginning in January 2021, the College will be re-starting the Quality Assurance Program, including the selection of members for review of their e-Portfolio and the PET. Members who are selected will be notified in writing by the College.

This means:

  • Members who are selected for review of their e-Portfolio will have 30 days to ensure that they have logged their continuing education activities into their e-Portfolio and provide the College with their CE attendance verification documents. For more details, please go to Continuing Education and the e-Portfolio
  • Members who are selected for the PET will have 30 days from their start date to submit their completed PET assessment to the College. For more details please go to Practice Enhancement Tool

Members can read more about the Quality Assurance Program on our website at For continuing education inquiries, contact, and for PET inquiries, contact

RCDSO Quality Assurance Program

The practice of dentistry is demanding and constantly evolving. Continuing education and practice enhancement form the foundation of our Quality Assurance program, as they are essential to maintaining the highest standards of professional care.

All dentists with a general or specialty certificate of registration must participate in the College’s QA program and pursue continuing education activities as part of their commitment to the profession and lifelong learning.

Continuing Education and e-Portfolio

Dentists must pursue continuing education activities and keep a record of them in their e-Portfolio.

Practice Enhancement Tool

The Practice Enhancement Tool is an online self-assessment program where dentists can evaluate and assess their practice, knowledge, skill and judgment based on peer-derived standards.

Annual Declaration

Each year when renewing your licence, you must self-declare whether you are in compliance with the QA Program requirements.
